This option links components in the PCB layout to components with identical reference designators in the schematic. This option uses unique, hidden component identifiers automatically assigned by the DipTrace Schematic Layout editor and should only be used for schematics created in DipTrace, not schematics imported from other CAD programs. Renew Layout from Schematic - By Components Here's more information on the Renew Layout from Schematic options. The same is true when you go into schematic capture and do a back annotate.the PCB file needs to be saved first. Remember that the schematic capture and PCB layout programs are completely separate from each other, so you always have to save the files first before any updates happen, and if you change a filename you need to tell it. If the name of the schematic changed, you can update it under File->Design Information->Related Schematic the PCB is looking at the correct schematic files (did you save the new schematic to a different filename?) So I went to the existing PCB file and selected Renew Layout from Schematic. In Schematic I tried Convert to PCB and it opens up a new design where I have to place all of the components and tracks again starting from scratch. I have now added some extra parts to the schematic and wired them up OK, but I cannot get the new stuff into my existing PCB file. I have created a schematic, got it into a PCB and routed OK. I am still new to this, but I'm learning fast.
